Two paths to renewal
You can either extend your visa in-country at Immigration HQ, or exit and re-apply for a new eTA. In-country extensions are typically simpler for legitimate long stays.
In-country extension
- Passport with current eTA/visa
- Extension application form
- Cover letter explaining reason for extension
- Proof of onward travel or accommodation
Fresh eTA application
The eTA can be applied for at etakenya.go.ke. Processing typically takes 72 hours. Ensure your passport is valid for at least 6 months.
Common pitfalls
Overstaying triggers penalties and a possible re-entry ban. If you've overstayed, come in for a consultation before travelling to sort it cleanly.
